Like many of my fellow Harvey Scholars I chose to come to Mines because of the academics. I was hoping to study geophysics, and the geoscience programs here are world renowned. However it is important to recognize that there is so much more to this school than studying and getting high-paying jobs after graduation. It is the extracurricular activities that really make Mines so incredible. During my time here, I have had more unique opportunities than I can count. I have gotten scuba and Wilderness First Responder certified. I’ve spent two summers in Hawaii completing my free elective credits and I’ve been on the Mine Rescue Team. I have been able to travel, have fun and learn skills that can help me save lives. I don’t think I could have accomplished all of this at any other university.
