I’m from San Marcos, California which is just north of San Diego. You can imagine then both my amazement and joy at seeing snow covering the campus when I went for my Harvey Scholars interview. As I have always wanted to live in and experience a colder climate, this visit further solidified Mines as my top choice. I plan on majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Robotics. In the future, I would like to use these skills to improve the lives of those with physical disabilities. As Mines has a very strong robotics program, I knew it was the right school for me. However, coming from out of state, I knew that my dream of going to Mines would only come true with significant financial assistance. I’m so grateful for the Harvey Scholarship and all of the opportunities it has given me. Because of the scholarship, I can attend my dream school with the academic rigor I always wanted.
