My areas of interest in the engineering fields have grown broader as I continue at Colorado School of Mines. I have become even more excited about doing engineering work to better humanity in some way. Engineers have a career that can truly benefit everyone, which is one reason why I’m studying to be an engineer! Being able to use the skills I have learned to help people is very special and important to me. I am ever so grateful to Hugh and Michelle Harvey for this scholarship and all the opportunities and support that it has provided thus far and will provide in the future. The Harvey Scholars program is amazing, and I am blessed to be a part of it.
The focus on helping others is something I love about this scholarship. I want to repay the Harvey family for what they have given to me by making the most of my time at Mines to learn and serve, and then by becoming the best engineer I can be. As I can see demonstrated in Hugh and Michelle’s lives, people who are passionate about helping others create a ripple effect of paying it forward in far more ways than they can imagine. I hope to be a ripple that inspires other people to continue improving our community, country, and world.
