Born in Arizona, and raised in Prescott, a small western town in the northern part of the state, Colorado School of Mines couldn’t be a better fit for me. Since I was young, my family, friends, and hometown have nurtured my love of the outdoors and cultivated my desire to learn and explore. I am passionate about knowledge, adventure, and service, as well as sharing those passions with everyone I get the chance to influence and be influenced by in my journey. Growing up, my parents began showing me the world one piece at a time by saving up to take me, along with my two sisters and two brothers (I’m the middle), on frequent, long, spectacular, and sometimes grueling road trips across the country. As my siblings and I grew older, our adventures took us further, and so far, I have been to 8 different countries across the globe. Most recently, I spent two months living on my own in China, studying Mandarin extensively, and teaching English for room and board. My travels have shaped who I am, and I love experiencing different cultures and meeting new people. When not working or studying, you’ll likely find me playing sports (four siblings makes you very competitive), volunteering (I find the greatest joy always comes from heartfelt service), or seeking thrills in the great outdoors (I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie). I’m currently studying Petroleum Engineering here at Mines, and, to this date, I have not had one single regret about coming to to this school. The Harvey scholarship has been life changing in giving me the opportunity to get the best engineering education possible, debt free. I’ve always been a person of action, and I know a Mine’s degree is a surefire way into a world of taking action. I am forever grateful to the Harvey Scholarship Foundation, and I’m so excited to be spending the next four years of my life along side this amazing group of people.
