I grew up in Columbus, Ohio, so I have loved the opportunity to live in Colorado since starting school at Mines. I was initially attracted to Mines by the focus on energy and environmental related innovation, so I declared my major in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering in the hopes of taking my career into the field of alternative energy. Over time, my personal focus has shifted more into water conservation, distribution, and treatment, which has lead me to some pretty cool opportunities. In addition to my major coursework, I’m pursuing a minor in Public Affairs through the McBride Honors Program. I have absolutely loved the classes, professors, and opportunities that it has brought me. Outside of class, my main hobby is leading the campus swing dancing team, the Sliderulers, as co-captain. I am so glad to have been able to continue my lifelong love of dancing and share it with my peers in this club. I also work in the Mines Writing Center as an undergraduate peer tutor, where I enjoy helping other students express themselves through all kinds of writing, from lab reports to fiction composition. I am eternally grateful to the Harveys for enabling me to cultivate my diverse interests at this amazing campus, where I am continuously surprised and inspired by the talent that surrounds us here.
