I lived most of my live in Katy, Texas, though I was born in Superior just up the road. I’ve loved science my whole life, and I knew that I wanted to make a career out of it. I was torn between UC San Diego and Mines last year, but when I was given this amazing opportunity to become a Harvey Scholar, the choice became very easy. Even though I’m pretty far from the ocean right now, Mines still has a lot to offer. I’m studying Mechanical Engineering here, and I’m going to use this degree to work in applications of marine engineering such as submarines and remotely-operated vehicles. I’m very thankful for the chance to be a Harvey Scholar, and I look forward to seeing how I can pay it forward both at Mines and around the world.
