I grew up in San Antonio, Texas as a triplet. One thing shared by my brothers and I was a love for progress, whether that be social, technological, or environmental. We loved to talk about advances in computers, the most recent activities in politics, and new renewable energies. Each of our individual interests rubbed off on each other over time and now my main interest in renewable energies is partnered with an interest in policies that can help implement them. I read about Mines from an email and then learned of its sterling reputation from my teachers back in high school. Thanks to the Harvey Scholarship and its connection to the McBride Honors College, I can attend mines and major in chemical engineering with a focus on biology. The Harvey Scholarship is all about helping others and I can’t wait to use my knowledge it has helped me gain to pay Harvey’s generosity forward and help make the world a cleaner and more sustainable place for future generations.
