Hello! I am a freshman at Mines this year and am so excited to be a part of such an amazing school and scholarship program! I am from Centennial, Colorado; my passions outside of school include camping, hiking, skiing, yoga, and horse back riding. I was originally influenced to come to Mines as my older sister went here to study petroleum engineering. Then, after touring the campus, I quickly fell in love with the gorgeous scenery and studious atmosphere here. My final decision to come to Mines was due in part to the confidence that my education would allow me to be successful in life and in part to this amazing scholarship. I am so incredibly grateful to have been awarded the Harvey Scholarship and become a part of such a passionate group of people. While I have yet to decide what I would like to study, I plan on using this scholarship and my education to help those in need; engineers are the people who solve the world’s problems and I would like to do just that. My current goal is to develop new technology in the medical field, specifically in cancer research, that will be more affordable and plausible for all people to use. With this scholarship, I will be able to pay it forward to those who need it most, such as in the medical field, and my education at Mines will allow me endless possibilities on just how to pay it forward.
