Clare Kuntz

My name is Clare Kuntz: an aspiring chemical (or nuclear, science and math just rock) engineer, a tree hugger, and a native flatlander from the rolling Flint Hills of Chapman, Kansas. Growing up, I always had a passion for the natural world; my parents could not keep me indoors. Peeking into a pond, scaling a tree, and digging through rock piles stimulated my curiosity to the brim. With this love for mother nature, I like to find the simplicity in life’s everyday moments, and my world is full of spontaneous bliss and compassion. As I reflect on the gift that the Harvey’s have bestowed upon me, I am filled with gratitude. Gratitude for their generosity, for their kindness, and for the profound impact they will have on my life. I am eager to pay it forward to others because of the Harveys’ philanthropy.

My name is Cody Warren Burkholder and I was born in raised in Greely, Colorado. I am currently majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Biology and Teaching. I want to pay it forward by eventually get my doctorate in Molecular and Cancer Biology and go into cancer research with an emphasis in CAR T cells. Harvey has been amazing for me not only because it allowed me to attend this university and get involved in a lot of undergrad research, but it has also introduced me to an amazing supportive community that has widened my view of how to pay it forward in many different apsects of life. Besides academics some of my passions are thrifting, Christianity, lifting, stargazing, and learning piano. Harvey is an amazing opportunity, and I am excited to use what I have been given to continue generating positive impact in the world around me.

My name is Tyler Spykstra and I was born and raised in Colorado. I’ve always loved the outdoors and the natural beauty of the state, and am extremely lucky I get to go to school here. The Harvey scholarship made college a possibility for me and my family, and never would have had the opportunity to attend Mines without Hugh and Michelle. I grew up the youngest of three brothers, and we were always pretty adventurous. I hope to travel and study abroad as much as I can these coming years. I am so thankful for everything and everyone that helped me get here, and am excited to take part in this awesome group!
