I am from Anaheim, California, and my journey at Mines has been trying to infuse as much art and creativity into an engineering field that typically doesn’t involve liberal arts. What drew me to the Harvey Scholars program was the constant need to get involved and find creative solutions to giving back to my community. My time at university allowed me to work for the Colorado State Legislature this past summer, using my technical background in chemical engineering to present a bill draft to address the rural urban divide in healthcare. Through the McBride Honors Program, I have been able to combine my love for art and writing with evaluations of engineering ethics and cultural studies. Moreover, I am an active member of Sigma Kappa and currently serve as their housing director. I volunteer with an elementary school in Littleton as an assistant basketball coach. I am so excited to take advantage of all the opportunities to serve and get involved this upcoming year!
