I decided to come to Mines for the amazing access to the outdoors, an education I’m positive will serve me well in life, and an atmosphere of creative people that strive to make a contribution to the world. I was at first hesitant with the small size of the school, but the people at Mines are so unique and inspiring, their is always a plethora of new skills and hobbies to take up alongside your schoolwork.
Taking a gap year after high school really influenced what I wanted to make of my life, as well as my college decision of course. While doing a Semester at Sea in 2012, it became clear that my passion for design and entrepreneurship should be united to help solve pressing humanitarian problems that are poised to dominate the 21st century. The Harvey Scholarship has also given me the financial means to take an Engineering internship in Madrid over the summer, and will allow me to study abroad in Australia this spring.
