I grew up in the city of Katy, Texas. Living in a place with a constant growing population, I shortly discovered where I found my identity: leading others around me in the Boy Scout and outdoor communities. I quickly learned that my passion to be outside and teach people did not fit into the urban lifestyle that Katy offered. As a result, I spent most of my time in rural Texas at my friends ranch. In high school, I became very active in the Boy Scouts at the council level. In my various positions I planed and executed different events for the scouts and helped to instill the importance of servant leadership and community. Scouting has helped mold me into the person I am today and will always remain a huge part of my life. After high school, I left the flat lands of Texas and headed to the mountains of Colorado in pursuit of the best mechanical engineering degree I could acquire. Making such a drastic move for college was a terrifying experience but God helped me through the changes and I know it is where He has led me to be. At Mines, I got a job guiding students at Mines in activities like skiing, climbing and backpacking. This job not only allows me to be outside doing what I love, but provides me the opportunity to give back to the community that has taught me so much.
