Growing up in New Mexico and Texas, I had never heard of Mines when I was younger, but I had always been excited by the transformative power of math and science. In my senior year of high school I heard of Mines and the Harvey Program for the first time and quickly applied, and oh my am I glad I did. I’m now three years into my degree and haven’t looked back. Mines continues to surprise me and help guide and direct me towards finding my passions, whatever they may be and however much they change on the ride. While it can be tough at times, I’m always given stability by the wonderful community that is the Harvey Program. Some of the most passionate, lively, involved people I know are Harveys, and I feel honored just being a fellow Harvey and being exposed to the wonderful opportunities that being a Harvey Scholar brings. I’m also a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity on campus as well as currently being on the executive board for Interfraternity Council and the CSM Materials Advantage Chapter, but before all of these things I am proud to say that I am a Harvey.
