I have lived in Colorado all my life, currently just minutes from the Mines campus. I have grown up watching the E-days cardboard boat races, hiking Lookout Mountain, and partaking in events throughout Golden. Mines had been on my radar since I knew what college was, as both my grandpa and godfather received their phDs from Mines. I had always enjoyed math and science but they turned an interest into a love as they helped with science projects like taking apart and putting back together an old phone. I came to realize math had the power to make a difference in people’s lives and even save lives. When I was invited to apply for the Harvey scholarship I was ecstatic for the opportunity to pay forward the love for math and science my grandpa and godfather instilled in me. I intend to major in applied mathematics and statistics and travel the world sharing the power of math.
