Colorado School of Mines has been, and continues to be, an optimal environment for furthering my education in physics. As a senior, I have had many unique opportunities during my time here that I, largely, consider facilitated by the Harvey Scholarship.

My Freshmen year, funded by the scholarship program, I traveled with a team of student athletes from Mines to work alongside locals rebuilding an overgrown trail. It was a life-changing experience, and I hope to return to Nepal in the near future, revisiting old friends. My Sophomore and Junior years, I was able to join a fuel cell research team in chemical engineering. This was a valuable experience that solidified my desire to pursue academic or industrial research as a career. Finally, the summer before my senior year, I joined a team of engineers in Burlington, Vermont, working for IBM. During the summer, I focused on the reliability physics of next generation field effect transistors. It was an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling experience.

Overall, Mines has been a great experience and has been greatly enriched by the generosity of Hugh and Michelle Harvey. I will never be able to thank them enough for their gift, but I hope to continue their legacy by “paying it forward”.
