Far from home, the Harvey Program has quickly become the support group that never fails to remind me why I decided to make the cross-country journey to attend Mines. An opportunity unlike any other, the Colorado School of Mines has allowed me the chance to pursue my goals and dreams (whatever they turn out to be) in an environment that consistently prepares me to the fullest extent of any university system. Coming from Charlotte, North Carolina, I expected life in Colorado to take months of slow adjustment and tentative exploration of where I belong. Instead, the School of Mines and the Harvey Program made me feel welcome in a matter of hours, setting the tone for a fantastic educational experience. The Harvey Scholarship has provided me with this incredible opportunity to study here at Mines and work to major in geophysical engineering. I am excited for the future that Mines is preparing me for and thankful for the events that have brought me where I am today.
