Hi! I’m in the Mines class of 2024, and I plan on studying computer science and/or mechanical engineering. I grew up in Lynchburg Virginia, but I am originally from Vienne, France and have dual citizenship with France and the US. Growing up, I used to think of engineering disciplines as cold and unemotional, which clashed with my own desires to help and connect with people. It wasn’t until about halfway through high school that I learned that was far from the case. Once I realized that engineering was a fantastic tool for improving the lives of others, and that I actually found STEM classes really fun, I started working towards the goal of becoming an engineer. I knew that a quality education was number one on the list of ways to get there. During my college search I had a long list of requirements including great academics and proximity to the mountains, and Mines checked all the boxes. Coming to campus only served to reinforce the idea that this was the place for me. When not doing school work, I can be found mountain biking, hiking, and generally enjoying the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer. I’m incredibly grateful for having received the Harvey scholarship, not only because it allowed me to attend Mines but also because it provided a built in community of amazing people to fall back on.
