Hayden Cooreman

I was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and lived in a small town in Utah for a year, but I’ve called Colorado my home longer than anywhere else. My first experience with Mines was in 10th grade when my school’s college advising counselor recommend I take a tour. After learning about the academics and community that makes Mines what it is, I came to realize that this school is special. Receiving my invitation for the Harvey Scholar Program was a humbling experience – I began to ask myself what “paying it forward” would look like for me. As the world seeks solutions to the ongoing and growing issues surrounding Earth, Energy, and Environment, I hope to bring engineering into policy and the courtroom. My intended major is CS + Business, which I hope to utilize as I practice consumer advocacy law after earning my Juris Doctorate. The generosity of Hugh and Michelle Harvey has allowed me to ask myself how can I make a difference rather than how can I make my way through school. I am to grateful that this community has enabled me to push myself and grow alongside these incredible fellow scholars.
