Alaina Clar

Howdy Folks! I’m Alaina, a Mechanical Engineering major who is passionate about engineering design for disabilities. I’m from Oregon City, OR and grew up in the PNW. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the Harvey Scholarship, and I’m grateful to be a part of this group!

I studied abroad in Amsterdam, Summer of 23′ using my Harvey travel grant! Having never left USA till then, it allowed me to expand my worldview rapidly through personal experiences.

My favorite club on campus is the Mines Women’s Rugby team! I’ve played rugby for Mines every year and we’ve traveled to many states I’ve never been to before.

Since moving to Golden in 21′, I’ve truly immersed myself in the Colorado culture! I became
a part-time Snowboard Instructor at Breckenridge and got my national instructor certification. Having previously been a wildland firefighter in the PNW, I recently joined a local fire department near Golden as a volunteer firefighter. Then I got my EMT certification and now I’m in a Firefighter 1 Academy through my dept. Volunteering as a EMT/firefighter has become my biggest passion outside of the classroom, and one way I strive to Pay it Forward!
