I am a freshman from Cypress, Texas majoring in Materials Engineering. I hope to eventually enter the nuclear energy field and work on improving molten salt reactors for commercial use. I’ve always had an affinity for engineering and the sciences, and I am very invested in protecting the environment. I discovered Mines through my grandfather, who sent me his Mines alumni magazines every month until I applied. When I arrived, at Mines, I fell in love with the campus and the people (the mountains didn’t hurt either). Mines is an incredibly supportive, close knit community full of people willing to help their peers. With the help of the Harvey family, I’ve been able to attend a school where everyone is just as enthusiastic and invested in their subjects of choice as I am. I am excited to become involved in the Mines community and learn as much as I can in this fantastic environment.
