Like most students at Mines, my interest in the engineering field originally comes from my experience with high school classes. While I was particularly drawn to things like Physics and Calculus, I was also very intrigued by my Environmental Science class that I took. This was how I decided to pursue Environmental Engineering. Between high school and my first year at Mines, I had the opportunity to take a gap year and live in New Delhi, India, for 11 months. During this time, my interest in pursuing Environmental Engineering was only strengthened. What really solidified my choice was my experience there, in a third world country, living in the city and seeing first hand the kind of water and waste systems areas like New Delhi have. The combination of loving math and science, as well as my dreams of helping people all around the world, led to my studies here: A major in environmental engineering with a minor in humanitarian engineering.
