My journey to Mines is one of science, math, travel, and hard work. I was born in New Zealand and moved to the US with my family when I was three. I went to elementary school in Los Alamos, New Mexico and high school in Naperville, Illinois. Along the way I gained a love for the south west and science. That’s why I was so excited to find Mines – the perfect mix for me of mountains, math, science, and engineering. After applying to Mines I was offered this incredible opportunity to be a Harvey scholar and have never looked back. The Harvey family has helped make me feel a part of something bigger – away is being paved to help us give back to the community and those in need. When not spending time studying or doing homework, I enjoy being outside, spending time with friends, watching TV, drawing, and reading. During one summer I was able to study abroad in Rome, Italy and expand my knowledge of other cultures and even other Universities through the people I met while abroad. In 2020 I gained my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at Mines. Currently I am pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan.
