Being from just down the road in Centennial Colorado, Mines’ prestigious reputation has always been on my radar. I remember falling in love with the campus when I came for a swim meet in 6th grade and since then, Mines’ tight knit community, small school feel and high academic achievement continued to impress me, eventually leading me to attend here. I am incredibly grateful to be a part of the Harvey community. Coming to college and being immediately part of such an open and welcoming community has given me a family away from home and made the transition to college so much easier. At Mines, I am one of the Vice Presidents for Mines Philanthropy Council, the Harvey Scholars Service Coordinator and a Mines Undergraduate Research Fellow where I am researching in materials science. I am currently a sophomore in Engineering Physics and hope to combine the Harvey’s spirit of philanthropy and my love of travel to work on renewable energy technologies in developing countries after I graduate. I look forward to seeing where all the opportunities Mines and the Harvey scholarship have given me as I progress through my time at Mines.
