Having grown up across the country in Charlotte, North Carolina, Mines was not a very well-known university. When browsing some college ranking statistics, I found out about Mines, and how it is one of the top engineering universities in the United States . After a long flight and a quick tour of campus, I immediately decided Mines was the right fit for me. The Harvey Scholarship made it financially possible for me to attend an out-of- state college pursue a degree in chemical engineering. I helped pay it forward by volunteering at a local food bank in North Carolina part time each summer and throughout the school year and organizing trail restoration projects in my community. I would highly recommend Mines to anyone looking at getting a top-tier engineering education in an amazing part of the country. The faculty is incredibly helpful and the smaller student body helps make the whole experience feel much more accommodating.
