Harvey Scholar Travels: Julia Lacey

Embarking on an unforgettable journey of cultural exploration and academic enrichment, my summer abroad was a kaleidoscope of experiences that spanned across the picturesque landscapes of Ireland, the enchanting allure of Scotland, the artistic haven of Paris, and the timeless charm of London. In Ireland, my days were immersed in the vibrant history and warm hospitality of Dublin, where I attended classes at a renowned university called Maynooth University, while weekends were reserved for traversing the rugged beauty of the Cliffs of Moher and the serene tranquility of Galway.

Transitioning to Scotland, the haunting melodies of bagpipes accompanied my exploration of Edinburgh’s cobblestone streets, where medieval architecture coalesced with a modern urban rhythm. The enchantment of the Scottish Highlands was equally captivating, with its misty valleys and storied castles. As I ventured on to Paris, the City of Light welcomed me with its iconic landmarks and an artistic ambiance that resonated in every corner of Montmartre and the Louvre. The final chapter of my journey led me to London’s bustling cosmopolitan scene, where the historical grandeur of Westminster seamlessly merged with the trendy vibes of Shoreditch.

Each destination painted an indelible memory on the canvas of my summer abroad, fostering personal growth, intercultural understanding, and a lifetime of cherished moments.
