Hello everyone, my name is Imran Horton, and I am from Aurora, Colorado. After attending the same school for 14 years, I am incredibly excited about the vibrant culture that Mines has to offer. I will never forget the moment I received the phone call informing me of my selection as a Harvey Scholar. I was walking in Downtown Denver and couldn’t help but scream joyfully. Growing up as the middle child of three brothers with two loving parents, the Harvey Scholarship has allowed me to attend a STEM-focused institution close to home. I plan on studying computer science and in my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends, playing sports, exploring the outdoors, and of course, paying it forward to my community and those around me. I am truly excited and blessed by all the doors this program has opened for me, and I can’t wait to take full advantage of the opportunities at Mines. Thank you to my family, mentors, and friends who have helped me reach this point—this is just the beginning!
